Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker is a rapper from Georgia, famous for the 2006 hit single "Laffy Taffy" with his group D4L. He has eleven children with ten different women, and his current girlfriend (his only current romantic relationship - he isn’t a polygamist) is the same age as his oldest children. The Oxygen network was going to air a special about his life, titled All My Babies’ Mamas, but people got very upset at the negative portrayal of African Americans, so the network bowed to pressure and pulled it
I was interested before, but after watching the 13 minute preview I’m even more intrigued. Shawty Lo is actively involved in the lives of all of his children and supports all the mothers, and all of the women know each other and interact with each other in a similar way to sister wives, with a hierarchy and cliques and jealousy issues and everything. This isn’t some deadbeat dad with a bunch of kids on welfare, it’s a wealthy dude with a very unique family structure. It’s not polygamy, but it’s not traditional monogamy either
Shawty Lo is trying to keep the show on the air and insists other networks are interested, so perhaps this will end up on TV soon
watch a preview of All My Babies’ Mamas (worth watching)
